Explaining How To Do Hanging Indent On Google Docs
Suraj KarmakarJune 16, 2025

You can create a hanging indent in Google Docs using the Ruler, the Indentation Options dialogue box, or a keyboard shortcut. A hanging indent is created when the first line of a paragraph is at a location to the left of the subsequent lines.

Creating A Hanging Indent Using The Ruler
One of the most common ways of creating hanging indents is by using the Ruler option. If you don’t find the Ruler option displayed on your Google Docs, you just have to tap on ‘View’ and then click on ‘show ruler.’
Using The Indentation Options Dialogue Box
Go to the menu and click on ‘Format.’ First, tap on ‘Align & Indent,’ and next, click on ‘Indentation Options.’ A type of dialogue box will appear where you can set the hanging indent value.
